RSA Office

Botswana and South Africa have a long history of trade partnership that existed over the years under the SACU trade agreement. The Trade protocol will also widen Botswana's trade links to the rest of the countries in the region. There is no doubt that this partnership needs to be further harnessed in fostering business linkages between the Botswana business community and businesses in the region.

The establishment of the BEDIA office in South Africa is to bring the services of the organization closer to companies that are interested in doing business in Botswana, more especially to disseminate information about business opportunities that exist in Botswana. The office provides advice and encourages South African based investors to explore investment opportunities and invest in Botswana. This effort is clearly supportive of the NEPAD initiative that Africa needs to start investing in within itself. Cross border investments will give confidence to the overseas investor that business can "flourish" in the continent.

The office is also a contact point for the Botswana based businesses interested in doing business in South Africa and the region. In addition to the encouragement of cross border investments, the office aims at projecting the image of Botswana as a reliable supplier of manufactured products and services to South Africa and the region.
