BEDIA One Stop Service Center

BEDIA invited all new and existing foreign and citizen investors to fully unitize the services of its One Stop Service Center located at the BEDIA offices at 28 Matsitama Road in the Main Mall, Gaborone.

The center, which has been in operation for over four years, is an investor friendly facility, which enables investors in the manufacturing and services sectors to secure clearances and approvals within the shortest possible time. These include licenses, work and resident permits, visas, utility connections as well as infrastructural facilities such land and factory space.

The facility came as a result of a series of consultations between the chamber of commerce and the Government on the need to create a conducive business environment to attract and retain investment in Botswana. Following a decision by the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs to exempt all investors that are approved by BEDIA or the Ministry of Trade and Industry from the requirements of applying for work permits, investors are now issued with exemption certificates within a period of 5 days, down from a month previously.

BEDIA also has a resource center with internet facilities, periodicals, journals and other relevant information materials for the business community. The resource center also services as a reference center for information resources from World Trade Organization, UN Conference on Trade and Development and the International Trade Center. These resources can be obtained on their internet sites, on electronic versions, on CD-ROMS, information and data on print versions as well as documents. The users can also obtain information about multilateral trading systems and country commitments relating to the multilateral trading negotiations.
