Immigration ProceduresPassportAll visitors entering Botswana must be in possession of valid national passports or internationally recognised travel documents.
Visa RequirementsVisa's are obtained from the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
Visa are required by all visitors to Botswana, excluding nationals of the following countries;
Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Dominica, Fij, Finland, France, Gambia, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Guyana, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malawi, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Namibia, Naruru, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua new Guinea, Poland, Portugal, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines, Samoa, San Marino, Seychelles, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, Tuvalu, United Kingdom, U.S.A, Uganda, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Yugoslavia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Slovakia, Slovenia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Syria, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen.
Requirements for Visa application
- Fill the immigration supplementary Form D
- Passport copies
- Two identical passport photos
- Covering letter from Host - Bedia
- A non - refundable fee of P500.00 per application
In addition to the above, Investors should submit;
- Exemption from Commissioner of Labour
- Business profile
- Business Plan
- Certified copies of Marriage if accompanied by spouse and Birth certificates if accompanied by children.
- Return air ticket
Employees should submit;
- Exemption from commissioner of labour
- Copy of receipt of P500.00 being fee for residence permit application OR acknowledgement receipt OR letter from immigration authorizing entry while the application is still under process (permission to enter)
Applications for Visa can be issued at the nearest Botswana representative mission abroad. Any visitor wishing to stay more than 90 days during any one calendar year needs to apply for permission from the Chief Immigration Officer in Gaborone, and no visitor is allowed to work.

- 2x passport photographs of applicant
- 1x Curriculum Vitae
- Certified Copies of educational Certificates
- 1x photocopy of passport
Note: Application for exemption is not paid for. However, application for work and residence permit cost BWP600.00
Requirements for employees;
- 2x Form 16
- Copy of the job advertisement on local newspaper
- 1x Medical report
- 1x Curriculum Vitae plus certified copies of educational certificates
- 1x Offer letter/ Contract of employment
- Photocopies of passport
- 4x passport photos
- If applicant is accompanied by dependants; two passport size photographs and photocopies of their passports.
